2K Games blacklists Eurogamer, claims it’s “standard practice”

The last few days has seen a storm brewing over the man who’s finally come out of exile but felt it might have been better if he stayed in hibernation after the reception he’s received. Yes, we’re talking about Duke and his latest game Duke Nukem Forever, which has been slammed by both fans and critics across the globe.

To make matters even worse, a recent spat over the game’s PR firm (Redner Group) accusing reviewers of  ”spewing venom” and threatening to blacklist them for future releases  saw 2k Games step forward and react to the firm’s statements, confirming that they’ve decided to discontinue their relation with them, as well as stating that they don’t condone their views. They released the following statement for fans of the series:

“2K Games does not endorse or condone the comments made by @TheRednerGroup and confirm they no longer represent our products.

“We maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the press and will continue to do so. We don’t condone @TheRednerGroup’s actions at all.”

However, it’s now confirmed that atleast one major website has been blacklisted by the company, possibly over the same issue. We aren’t really sure if anyone else has been affected. The website in question is Eurogamer, and the website’s operation director Tom Bramwell confirmed this news via a tweet:

I feel sorry for @TheRednerGroup today. We are blacklisted by @2KGames and it seems to be standard practice.

He didn’t give out any additional details as to why they were blacklisted but Eurogamer recently slapped a 3/10 in their review of Duke Nukem Forever.

Gamersmint is yet to review Duke Nukem Forever, but readers can expect it to be published soon.
