3DS breaks sales records in Japan

Despite diminishing sales in the west even after the recent price cut, the 3DS has been greeted with soaring sales figures in Japan over the past few months.

The Nintendo handheld has taken the crown of the best selling piece of hardware ever since the price cut in August, and has reigned unchallenged over the past seven months.  During the interval between November 28th and December 25th , 1,492,931 3DS consoles were sold according to Enterbrain’s monthly sales record, which also happens to be the largest monthly sales figure Enterbrain has recorded.

Even the newly launched PlayStation Vita could not challenge the throne, shipping only 402,794 units since it debuted on December 17th.
