55 million Xbox 360 consoles sold in 6 years

These 6 years have been pretty long with RRODs and the boards revision, but still the Xbox 360 has done well.

According to the figures released by NPD, 55 millions 360 consoles have been sold by Microsoft in its life of 6 years across 38 countries, in which it is available.

The console has been on top of the list for the last 11 months and during the first four months of the year 2011, it has seen a whopping 29% increase in its year-over-year sales which certainly points out the popularity of the new slim console and the Kinect.

“Triple the growth of PlayStation 3 and the largest growth of any console on the market.”

Microsoft has also claimed that there are 35 million active Xbox Live users who spend around 60 hours weekly on the online gaming service provided by the computer giant.

The company is expecting 2011 to be “once again be a high water mark as the best year ever for the brand.”
