A Decade Gone by – Best Games of the Decade
10 years is a long time and it feels weird to have come to the end of the first decade of the 21st century. A decade which saw many breakthroughs in various fields of technology and gaming. But those discussions are for another day. Today, we are here to honor the games which have revolutionized gaming and given us one-of-a kind experiences. The past decade was arguably the “best” decade of gaming we have seen and among the thousands of games made during that period, some of them do stand out and can be held responsible for the development of gaming as a medium which now can stand up to other entertainment forms like music and movies in terms of sales and scale.
After a lot of heated discussions among ourselves at Gamersmint, we have compiled a list of games which our team felt were shining gems from the decade gone by. We considered a lot of factors while short listing the games- like standing the test of time, genre-advancements, emotional quotient, unique features, depth of story, gameplay and lots more. It’s obvious that all of the games in our list do not excel in all these qualities but they certainly stand out in some of these departments and hence have found their way into our list.
We first planned to do a 15 game only feature but the amount of brilliance in game making this decade had on offer was such that we had to stretch our list to 30 games and yet, we needed to leave out quite a few extraordinary games. But all said and done, we think we are happy with what we have got for you and we do feel each of these games did more for gaming this decade and many could ever achieve. If you have played all of these games, then dear reader, you surely can be tagged as a master gamer and if you don’t even know what most of these games are, then boy, have you missed out on some of the best gaming experiences or what! We insist that you try out these gems right now. It’s never too late you know!
We know we have left out many, many games that we at first wanted to add. This list could have been increased to top 50 games and we would still have games that deserved to be on the list. That is why, we’d like you to discuss which games you think deserve to be on our list.

Great list, Half-Life 2 and Deus Ex both got the spot that they deserve. And lol at Kee who hasn’t even heard about Deus Ex, one of the best games ever

@Vgs- As this is a games of the decade list, our scales of comparison involved games releasing throughout the decade and when this gen’s games were compared with last gen’s, last gen’s games emerged as clear winners!.

@Content- Well, MGS4 is a great game but MGS3 in our eyes seems a bit more fun and enjoyable and hence it’s in the list and not MGS4.
@Kee-Well, it appears your gaming career involves playing games which have released mostly in this gen and let me just say that you have missed out on some of the best gaming experiences ever. Please try some of these games out and get back.

I agree with the the top 10 except no.3(wtf is this?) but you have left a lot of good games of this gen and only one game of MGS series and that too way below?

but wtf no mgs4.. THAT WAS THE BEST GAME THIS DECADE!!!!!!!!!!…. not to mention the only game that got a 10 out of 10 from gamespot… and i think this console generation
I have’nt played half of these games and have never even heard of number 1. Surely other games derserve a mention in here. Prince of Persia SoT was good but top 30 of the decade good? nah. San Andreas was way better than vice city for example. mgs 4 was better than 3 as well. How about Final fantasy X ? Or Call of duty 4? or Uncharted 2? or Street fighter IV? or Dragon Age Origins? Or Tony Hawks Underground? Am i overreacting here because i have not even heard of most of the games listed here. tell you what, let it suffice to say this wouldn’t be my top 30.
