Per.fec.tion:
1. freedom from fault or defect, the quality or state of being saintly
2. an exemplification of supreme excellence, an unsurpassable degree of accuracy or excellence
3. Deus Ex

Deus Ex. The name might sure ring some bells in many a PC gamer’s mind. And why not? Deus Ex deserves the attention now which it was denied at the time of its release. Not many people back then had played this gem and they sure regretted it later on. Set in a dystopian world, Deus Ex can be touted as the best amalgamation of different gameplay elements ever in a videogame.

Although Deus Ex is a action FPS game with RPG elements thrown into it, restricting it to a particular genre would be sheer injustice to this game as it can be played in almost any possible way you want to play it. Ranging from stealth to full-blown assault to a mixture of stealth and combat or a stylish cyberpunk themed RPG, Deus Ex can augment into anything which you desire it to be. It seamlessly blends in different narrative-paths and consequences based on what choices the player makes and also offers you with a plethora of equipments and upgrades to carry it all off. And on top of it, it boasts of three different endings and endless different possibilities throughout the game, enhancing its replay value by quite a few notches. For its time, Deus Ex was no less than a pioneer, showing the way how games should be made for many a developer after its release and revolutionizing the FPS genre like none other and even today it sits high and mighty atop its throne laughing at other games’ unsuccessful attempts to better its qualities.

Someday, a game might arrive which will finally be able to overshadow this masterpiece but till then, Deus Ex is the king of Videogames, resting at its well-deserved no 1 spot.

This brings us to the end of our article. We have never had so much fun as we did compiling this list and the efforts that the whole team put in is something special. A thanks goes out to all our team members who took part in our initial discussions. I would also like to give out some extra cookies to two of our writers-Amit and Aiman without whose help this article would not have seen the light of the day. Especially Aiman who spearheaded this whole shindig. Thanks guys, you rule!

And last but not the least, a special thanks goes to Sameer Desai who helped us complete this feature by chipping in a short feature for Gran Turismo 3 – A-Spec.

We hope you guys had as much fun reading this feature as we had while composing it and if you feel that even one of these games deserves your attention after reading this story than we will feel that we have accomplished our goal.

Having World of Warcraft on our list was a given. It created too big an impact on gaming to be left out. There are many who still believe the World of Warcraft is not the epitome of MMO gaming, but people…more than 11 million subscribers cant possible be wrong. World of Warcraft introduced gamers to a whole new world and took online gaming to the next level. It also gave user interaction and bonding over a videogame a new definition and was way ahead of its time in vision and execution. It’s no surprise that people have spent more time playing this game than living their actual life (which is a scary thought btw!). At first, we were disappointed that we were not getting Warcraft 4, but a few days into World of Warcraft had us hooked on. The only reason that some of us have stopped playing WOW is the drug-like addiction. All these qualities along with the revolution and surge of online MMORPGs it bought along with itself makes World of Warcraft a worthy inclusion on our list. And of course…how could a game that gave us LEEROY JENKINS not be awesome?
