Activision developing Call of Duty free-to-play for China

Activision dropped new details regarding their plans to conquer the Chinese market with their Call of Duty franchise.

Activision plans to develop a free-to-play Call of Duty spin-off for China, which’ll be a microtransaction-based online multiplayer game.

The game’s planned to contain purchasable perks, maps, weapons and more and won’t solely be based on an experience based-progression system for unlocking items.

Activision announced that they’ve formed a new studio, Beachhead to focus on digital content for Call of Duty and this news bodes well for their China conquering plans.

However, you can rest assure that the next major entry in the franchise won’t be based on any of these. We’ll are betting it’s going to be Modern Warfare 3.
