Age of Conan Online to relaunch as a free to play MMO this summer

Funcom has sent word that they will be relaunching the MMO Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures as a free to play title under the name Age of Conan: Unrated.
While players will still be able to reach Level 80, they’ll still need to pay for expansions and items. However, customers can also revert to the subscription plan. The re-release will be accompanied with new content in the form of two new solo story-based dungeons, namely: The Breach and The Forgotten, and also an adventure pack which will feature characters from the upcoming movie.
Craig Morrison, Executive Producer added that the move comes in wake of all the hype which has piled up for the soon to release movie.
“The time is right for Age of Conan now as we recognised the opportunity presented by the increased profile of the license, with the new Conan movie coming out this Fall,” he said.
“That meant that we felt that the time had come to make the switch to ensure we had the best possible position and availability for when that interests increases, so that we could draw in even more users to this wonderful world that we have brought to life.”
