Android Market web store now live
Android fans rejoice. Google has finally launched an official Android Market web store, which will allow users to buy and install apps directly on their phones via the Internet just by signing into their Google account. No hassling connection with PC is required in this case.
“No wires, no synching with computers, none of that sort of nonsense,†said Android engineering director Chris Yerga. “Everything just works seamlessly syncing between the two.â€
Similiar to iTunes, the site offers tons of applications from the Android Market with pages specific to each app, screens, videos and the prerequisite user ratings. Other features include a revamped currency system, where instead of using one currency system, users can now view different prices for the international market. In app purchases are also incoming, which will allow app developers to offer upgrades, as well as other products and services from within the actual app.
The launch of the site may might as well come due to the threat poised by Amazon of setting up their own independent Android App Store, but nevertheless it greatly simplifies Android users needs.
