Artist’s profile shows concept art from canned Half Life project
Randy Humphries is an illustrator, modeler and concept-artist, who’s been working at EA since 2004. He’s been in the industry for more than 10 years now and not every project that he worked in, saw the light of the day.
While digging around we stumbled into his portfolio which has got some images which are related to a canned Half Life project, apparently. There’s also other concepts there, including ones from a cancelled Road Rash titles.
The images contain a description of the city, Haven and also some other concepts. Though, the images possibly belongs to a Half Life game, but the interesting question why was EA, at the first place, involved in a Half Life project? However, the artist profile looks legit and this doesn’t look fake at all.
We know that EA was involved in producing the PS3 version of The Orange Box, but were there any plans of releasing some kind of DLC or any other mods or versions for the game, developed in-house by them? We’ll never know.
Meanwhile, have a look at the pics, there is Haven city, and concepts of combine soldiers which looks like the beta versions of the actual soldiers who were in Half Life 2 and just to let you know, there is a project Haven related to Half Life in reality. It was a mod for Half Life 2 which never saw the light of the day.
There are many questions which arise out of this and the answers might not be obtained, although we’ve sent an email to the artist requesting him for additional details. What can be done, however, is to enjoy these images from a project, which wasn’t to be.
Portal 2, Valve’s latest game is being published by EA and will be releasing on April for PC/Mac, Xbox 360 and PS3.
And no, even we don’t know whatever happened to Half Life: Episode 2 but chances are, Portal 2 might contain some “hints” regarding it. Ok, we’ve said more than we should have, already!
Enjoy the images:
