Brink developer: PS3 was ‘alien technology’

There is no denying the fact that the architecture of the PS3′s Cell processor is unlike anything Developer’s have worked with before, resulting in many inferior ports of multi platform games. But the Cell has proved equally rewarding to developers who managed to crack the code, producing some of the most technically impressive titles. Today, Brink developer Splash Damage openly confessed that Sony’s black box can only be described ‘alien technology’.

Speaking in an interview with VG247, Paul Wedgwood, head at Splash damage had this to say:

“The PlayStation 3, for us, was just alien technology. Take the cover off and its probably organic. We decided from the beginning we’d get the PC up and running as quickly as possible for gameplay testing. Within about three months of starting we were playing multiplayer games, just deathmatch with the initial weapon loadout. Then we started playing with the basic first couple of objectives. Then as SMART came in, we started playing with the basic vaulting, mantling, sliding under things and leaning around corners”

Does this mean that the PS3 version of Brink will be inferior to the 360′s? Well, it won’t be long till we find out as Brink will arrive on shelves for the PC, PS3 or Xbox 360 tomorrow.
