Capcom’s New DLC Pack To Charge $3 For Additional Costume Colors

Capcom has revealed a number of DLC packs planned for Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online, available now on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
The list includes a Color Pack, two Match Packs, and a number of Music Packs. But what has really caught our attention is the first DLC pack – the Color Pack.
The Color Pack is due out next week and will add seven new colors for each character’s costume. The pack will be available for $2.99.
A Capcom Rep has confirmed that the colors are already available in the game but only those who buy the DLC pack will be able to use them:
Color Pack 1” will be launching next week, on September 6th/7th. The price for this is $2.99, and buying this one pack will add 7 new colors for each character! The colors are available in pretty much all modes, but can’t be seen by people who haven’t purchased the DLC. (Also, we weren’t able to save the color palettes in replay files, so please be aware of that.)
Capcom’s notorious for selling DLC which were supposed to be made available for free but this is just another level of low altogether. Charging legit users money for changing the colors of their character’s costumes is beyond ridiculous.
The Match Packs, planned for release later this year, include footage from the “Fight for the Future” tournament featuring 16 of some of the best Street Fighter III players from around the world. One of the packs focuses on the top eight, while the other includes a compilation of some of the tournament’s “best bouts.” Both packs consist of over an hour of gameplay footage and commentary.
Lastly, but certainly not least, is a set of Music Packs which include classic character themes from Street fighter III: New Generation and Street Fighter III: Second Impact. These will also be available later in the year.
