Counter Strike Guide
Shotguns – Nothing can compete with the shotguns in close-quarter firefights but it can be handy in long range battles too! Every player must learn to use them at some point of time. CS: S offers only two shotguns and Unkle Cyborg has them laid out for you! Read on to know more about them.
Leone 12 Gauge Super
Cost – $1700
Rating – **
Description – This is a single shot pump action shotgun. Its fires numerous pellets per shot which spreads out as soon as a shot’s fired and they pack quite a punch. Has 8 rounds per clip and recoils not a worry as the bullets spread into a radius. But you have to wait for sometime after each shot which makes this a one shot kill or die gun for noobs but can prove to be a cheap option of scoring quick kills after getting a hang of the game. Rookies are advised against using this gun till they hone their skills up a few notches.
Writer’s Tip – Always keep your cursor at neck level of your nemesis while using this gun. Fire aiming for the head of your opponent and even if you fail to pinpoint your shot, it will hit him as this fires multiple pellets per shot!
Leone YG1265 Auto Shotgun
Cost – $3000
Rating – ****
Description – This gun’s a dominator! Nothing can compete with it when it boils down to close range firefights! Packs a wee bit less punch than its predecessor but is a semi-auto shotgun, which means you don’t need to pump it up after each shot! Has a 7 round clip and can be fired while reloading. The bullets act the same way as the Super’s and hence its recoil and accuracy can be overlooked. Only spoiler is the fact that it costs a lot and you need to eco a few rounds in order to get hold of this beast.
Writer’s Tip – This is a semi-auto shotgun and can be devastating at close to medium ranges. The moment you spot an enemy, jump around firing shots aimed above the chest and continue to do so till he goes down. You can take down upto 3 enemies at once before you need to reload. And make sure you reload it before engaging the enemy as every bullet counts! Good Hunting
Secret – This shotgun can be an intimidating weapon. It can kill an opponent at medium range with a single shot! Just walk keeping the cursor just below the head level and the moment you spot an opponent running in…BANG one shot and he will go down. Try it. If you pull it off as stated above, even Kevlar won’t save his ass.
Rifles – These guns form the core segment of the weapons available in CS: S. After the first few rounds, these guns are essential for you and your team to emerge out as victors. CS: S offers a host of powerful rifles and some of them are exclusive to the CTs and Terrorists.
Clarion 5.56
Cost – $2250
Rating – **
Description – The Clarion is a CT only gun. It’s got a 25 round clip and two firing modes. Accuracy’s poor if you plan on spraying but if used in the burst mode this gun can be quite effective. Though I would suggest you get ES C90 instead of buying this one if you have a bit more cash as the latter is much better!
IDF Defender
Cost – $2000
Rating – ***
Description – This gun’s named the defender for a reason. It’s the best gun you can get for under $2500. It’s got a massive 35 round clip and packs quite a punch. It is highly accurate if fired in small bursts. The defender is also famous for its compactness. All these qualities make it an extremely deadly weapon to have. Move while firing small bursts aimed above the chest and you will see your opponent perish. Its only flaw is the fact that spraying is highly inaccurate and it becomes useless if fired continuously without pausing. Oh, and it’s only available to the terrorists!
Secret – The first shot fired from the Defender can spell doom for your foe! It’s pinpointed accurate and can’t miss its mark. Always fire the first shot aimed at the head and it will prove to be an easy battle thereon.
Maverick M4A1 Carbine
Cost – $3100
Rating – ****(Writer’s Choice!)
Description – This is my favourite rifle in CS: S. This gun comes with a silencer and a 30 round clip. Is arguably the most accurate gun in the game rivaling even the snipers! Packs a wallop and is capable of obliterating your opponents. Its most advantageous feature is the fact that it does not lose its mark even when spraying! And if you use it in bursts then God save your nemesis, and the best part is – it’s a CT exclusive! Poor terrorist you! Always buy this gun if you prefer assaulting and have the cash to spare. Its only defect is the fact that it takes some time to reload and can be fairly expensive to buy.
Secret – The silencer of the carbine is quite a useful addition. When put on, it can make the carbine highly accurate and you can spray the whole clip without worrying about recoil much! Perfect for providing cover fire and surprise attacks. Your enemies won’t know what hit them! Only disadvantage of the silencer is that it reduces the firepower of the gun but if you can empty the whole clip…who cares anyways!
CV-47
Cost – $2500
Rating – ***
Description – The AK is a very good gun and can be fatal in the hands of a pro but it’s not the best gun a beginner can have! Exclusive to the merchants of terror, it has a 30 round clip and is an extremely powerful weapon capable of stopping anyone in his tracks. So, where does it fail then? Well, its recoil is horrendous, shoot more than thrice and your bullets will hit anything but the target. Use it only in small bursts and never spray with this gun.
Secret – Like the Defender, the first shot fired from this gun is also equivalent to that of a sniper! Fire it wisely. A headshot will kill your opponent.
Bullpup
Cost – $3500
Rating – ***
Description – This can be used by noobs and pros alike. Known for its versatility, the Bullpup is a gun which can fit into any situation. With a 30 clip round and extremely powerful bullets this gun can be very effective. It also comes with a scope which is best left unused till you learn its recoil pattern. Use this gun in small bursts and your enemy will go down quickly. Don’t try and spray much though, it tends to lose its accuracy if fired repeatedly.
Secret – The scope can be useful if you figure out its recoil pattern. Aim a bit away from the place where you want it to hit and you will be able to hit your target.
Krieg 552
Cost – $3500
Rating – **
Description – I personally hate this gun! Its fairly inaccurate than the bullpup and also loses its effectiveness when zoomed in making its scope useless. This gun is advised only if you can pinpoint your shots because after the first few shots its bullets will stray away from your target. The 30 round clip gets depleted really fast with most of the bullets missing its mark. Only recommended for experienced assaulters and yea it’s a terrorist exclusive.

This guide is only meant for beginners and people who have started out playing CSS. So, its obvious a player like you won’t find everything to your liking but am sure you will agree that whatever I have stated might work out for nOObs. Also, we do know once we are pro at playing CSS, the best and worst weapon change completely.

very nicely written but there are some thing i can correct for you. i’ve played CSS for >1000 hours an can easily say that a deagle and an AK are the best combo u can get. AK means 1 shot kill whether u have Kevlar/helmet or not, and you like m4 just cause it has lower recoil. an AK with 5 bullets can win a scrim round for u and onlya deagle (and snipers) can do it for you. And as far as dual pistols are concerned they suck try spraying as u’ve mentioned and u might get no kill in a scrim until the opponent is really noob, and the glock is one hellova gun and u’ve written its the worst gun
(PS its the only pistol that can hit a target in mid-air pretty accurately if you in close range).
the awp costs 5000$ for the CT so that’s another mistake. And p90 is one of the worst gun u can get in CSS as u require 3 shouts (even if 2 are head-shot) to kill a person who has a Kev & helmet.
