Crytek: Leaked Crysis 2 build is over a month old
Those of you cheap pirates who downloaded the Crysis 2 leaked build were only treated to a old and “really ugly” version of the full intended release, according to to producer Nathan Camarillo.
“That build was already from the middle of January,†he explained at The Guardian’s Gamesblog Live event.
“With 250 people working on a project, thousands of bugs get fixed in a heartbeat. So that version is like a really ugly version that we don’t want anyone to see.â€
“Even if someone downloads it and plays it themselves they might make a bad decision based on the fact that there are so many bugs in it, Oh, there are so many bugs in the game I wanted to play. It’s so buggy, I’m not gonna buy it now.â€
The team was “horribly depressed†over the days that followed the leak and even though they tried their best to prevent the in-game reveals which diminished the experience of Crysis 1, the leak resulted in the same consequences.
“We had that problem with the original Crysis in that Crysis 1 was announced and then the date moved a few times, over and over and over again but meanwhile the marketing machine was going about promoting the game,â€
“They just kept putting more and more videos up online and content out there. By the time people played it… they said ‘Aw, I saw this all already.’ It’s fun. It looked good. But you’d already experienced it.â€
If you truly want to experience Crysis 2 the way the Developer’s meant to be, then pick it up when it releases on March 22 in NA and the 25th in Europe.
