Diablo III on consoles still not official

Yesterday, we reported a tweet from the Community Manager of Blizzard which we assumed was a confirmation of the existence of a Console version of Diablo III. Well, turns out that Blizzard was just pulling our legs. In an official statement to Game Informer, Blizzard had this to say:
Bashiok’s response on Twitter was intended as a confirmation that we’re actively exploring the possibility of developing a console version of Diablo III, as we’ve mentioned in the past. This is not a confirmation that Diablo III is coming to any console platform.
Our focus right now is on finishing the PC/Mac version of Diablo III and making sure it’s a worthwhile successor to the Diablo series.
The reveal came off as a little peculiar, as we all know that Blizzard loves to make a huge splash when they unveil their projects, and a simple tweet just seems out of place. Also worth noting is the fact that the tweet never actually refereed to Diablo III in particular, but a “Diablo Console Project”. Chances are that we might see a Diablo spinoff, similar to Starcraft Ghost which never materialized. Regardless, a direct console port of Diablo III is still a viable option for Blizzard and we wouldn’t lost out hope just yet.
