E3 2011: Wii U Controller Specs and first details

The Wii U controller will have a 6.2″ in built touch screen. The screen can be used as a single screen for games, or it can be used as a dual-screen with games on a HDTV. The controller will not be portable, and will only be used when in proximity of the main Wii U console.
There will be a D-pad, and two analog pads which are strangely high up on the controller instead of the more traditional lower down positioning seen on the PS3 and 360 controllers. It will have two shoulder buttons, as well as two trigger buttons.
It will also have speakers, a microphone and a camera that allows for video calls.
It looks like a hybrid between a tablet and a video game controller, and is a pretty hefty device just for a controller. It doesn’t look very comfortable to hold, but obviously I can’t comment on that until I’ve actually held it.
Games can use two screens at once or a TV alone or a controller alone. Trying to enable the widest possible variety of games.
