EA challenges GT5 and Forza 3: Official video comparison with Shift 2

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPhW1SHS4-I

Shift 2: Unleashed, the sim racer from EA has a lot to prove, they have the huge budget, they have the talent but is it enough to beat GT5 or Forza 3? EA believes it can but we are skeptical.

Competition is good, in fact it’s great for gamers who get quality products due to the rivalry. EA’s released a video which shows what Shift 2 is capable of, and we are blown away.

So which racer is realistic? Watch this video and tell us yourself.

Shift 2: Unleashed releases this month for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and truly aims at challenging for the crown of most realistic sim racer ever made.

looks like another flat stick and hold on ><
definately not a gt5 eater in my eyes
but thats not saying it won't be a fun semi arcade semi simulator
I don't think thats what they are aiming for but hell its still need for speed unless they go back to the days of nfs porche unleashed they will never get anywhere near the realism of gt5
I guess we will all find out in a few days after its released.

i own GT5 and a 55 inch visio, 1080p, a GameStop ps3 wheel with paddleshifters, and I have to say, I absolutely love the interior and the feel of the car in GT5. They go over the top to get the looks right, but athetics isn’t the main of the GT5 team.

    It’s the racing.

I’m sorry, but Shift2 isn’t going to get my money. I already don’t like the over the top head throwing. GT5 is the better out of all of the, due to the fact it’s racing is top notch. ragnoroc, i agree with you. Right now, GT5 > anything else.

Hmmm, the unleashed in the name gives it a generic feel. I like what im seeing though.

PD is great at listening to their customers and responding with updates.  EA on the other hand is absolutely horrible about it.  I wouldn’t care how good the game is EA’s inability to support their games after release is to big a turn off.

The first real drive video showed the car bumping due to the road and breaks , but in shift the camera was jumping , moving sideways for no apparent reason , just because you have a cockpit which can get you headache within few minutes , doesnt mean better , the juggling of the cockpit for no apparent reason is not justifiable…will stick with GT5

I think the more jarring is the acceleration deceleration movement, it needs to be toned down. Otherwise, the shaking and the head turning(sideways motion as you put it) is acceptable considering you are looking out of a helmet.  In a race, your head gets jostled and you would turn your head into the turn so that was quite accurate as well.

It’s possible that you are correct that it may make some nauseous but they can just play in a different camera view.

You people aren’t seeing the difference…FM3 and GT5′s cockpit looks like you could be playing without the cockpit and it wouldn’t be any different. It’s basically just a fancy overlay on your screen with animated wheel and hand motions. In Shift2, your helmet moves, you move, your car moves…It’s a little over the top in it’s motions but it’s a way more visceral view from a racers experience. As an auto-x racer, I appreciate the attempt to improve the immersion.

It definantly looked like they pulled the video for GT5 and FM3 from a standard def tv and using the cables included, plus i’m not sure if this is the fault of EA or Gamersmint but the video could only be viewed in 360p, which is less than what most standard def tvs output. And I agree with asad that they should have used the same car for all three videos. and is it just me or was the driving style different when the video switched to Shift 2? On FM3 and GT5 the driver didn’t really seem to be able to avoid other cars or corner properly, yet on Shift 2 it seemed like he was purposely hitting other cars and than pulling off good passes, shifting from outside to inside.

I have both GT5 and FM3 hooked up to a 1080p 40″ tv with HDMI cables and GT5 looks better in some cases and worse in others, especially the “non-premium” cars are used from GT4 from the PS2. However overall until I actually get to see a video of Shift 2 in 1080p or 720p against GT5 and FM3 in the same resolution and than actually get to play the game. Though I didn’t enjoy the first Shift, though I played in PS3 and since I don’t have a wheel its really weird. Will probably rent the game for Xbox 360 since I have a wheel for that.

And thus ends a long winded rant.

      Whoops,

      Watch it now. :)

1st off why wouldn’t you use the same car and same track for all videos? also considering gt5 can play in 1080p you not showing the gt5 the way it was meant to be. but from what i can see gt5 wins this battle
