Ezio’s inclusion in Soul Calibur V explained

Soul Calibur V’s publisher Namco Bandai has explained the inclusion of Assassin’s Creed protagonist, Ezio, in the fighter.

The company’s Vice President of Marketing Carlson Choi told Siliconera:

We wanted to bring in a character that works in the Western world. When you look at where Ubisoft is, especially with Ezio, it brings us in the Western market and gets everyone excited about the game. More importantly, the fighting style is so unique it’s a perfect fit in the Soulcalibur world, which is why we went to seek out Ubisoft.

We have an opportunity to expand in the Western market, vice-versa for them they can get their character in the Eastern market. For both of us, it’s a win-win situation.

Olivier Comte, Senior Vice President at the publisher had this to say on the official reveal of the character recently:

The entrance of Assassin’s Creed into the Soulcalibur universe is an historic meeting of two of the most revered and influential game series. Ezio has captured the imaginations of millions of fans around the world, and it will be very exciting to see how his lightning fast moves stand up to the mighty swordplay of Soulcalibur’s finest.

Soul Calibur V releases on January 31st.
