Final Fantasy The Four Heroes Of Light coming to the west

Square Enix’s Japanese-only portable game The Four Heroes of Light is setting sail to the west. The game is being developed by Matrix, the same people behind the remakes of Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV for the DS and is  returning to the classic Final Fantasy style, accompanied by an epic tale.

The game features an elegant picture-book visual style and an easy to use turn based battle system that will appeal to both old and new fans of the series. A simple touchscreen interface offers easy access to the game’s extensive arsenal of physical, magical and summoning abilities, meaning that players can forget about the controls and focus on the enemy.

The game will support up to four players online which means you don’t need to go through all those grim dungeons alone. Moreover, battle points earned in the game’s online mode can also be used in the single player. The game also adds a new mechanic not seen in prior Final Fantasy games;  the “Crown” system which allows players to freely switch the character’s class simply by changing the hat each character wears. With over 20 jobs to choose from including the traditional Black Mage, White Mage, Ranger and many more, the strategic options are practically limitless

Larry Sparks, Vice President Brands PAL Region of Square Enix Ltd. comments, “The FINAL FANTASY series has a rich history of offering unforgettable adventures and exciting new experiences. FINAL FANTASY: THE 4 HEROES OF LIGHT continues this famous tradition, with an adventure that boasts incredible ease of play and a gorgeous art style that should prove to be extremely popular with fans.”

Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes of Light arrives in North America on October 5th, 2010. A European release date is yet to be announced.
