Gears of War 3 will have only six multiplayer maps at launch
Well that does seem to be a bit low, and we know Epic will release a lot of map packs as future DLC packs but it’s been confirmed that the final game will ship with only 6 maps. In comparison, Killzone 3 has 8 maps.
Gears of War 3 will probably be the best multiplayer game this year but we have to wonder, is 6 really enough? Better netcode and dedicated servers are nice but it would have been ideal to ship with 8 – 10 maps otherwise repetitiveness is expected.

Gears of War 3 will be releasing on September 20, exclusively for Xbox 360.
A multiplayer beta is planned for the game and it’ll being mid-April. Four multiplayer maps and 3 game modes will be playable in the beta.
Update: It seems the final build of Gears of War 3 will infact contain more than six maps and these was a ill-founded piece of information. These maps are in contention for inclusion in the beta, out of which four will make the cut. Â The final game might contain more than six maps. Good news for Gears of War fans and apologies for any confusion that this might have caused.
