God of War III – Hands On!

The next set piece is where you get to fight a set of soldiers and old familiar enemies. Then you get a chance to test your new powers “with Helios flying in the background† while fighting a Titan. Once you are through with the enemies here, you get to fight a new type of enemy which can very well be described as Chimera, which seems like a hybrid of a Snake, an Lion and a Goat. The fight is again brilliant where you go about killing one at a time, using the QTE onscreen. Once you are done showing them your negotiation skills, you advance to knock down Helios and then move on to attack him, here you are introduced to a new feature of the game, where you are able to ride a frigging Cyclops! You can use him to kill enemies and then rip off his eyes to put him down forever. Kratos then proceeds towards Helios and rips his head off, a sequence which we have been seeing from last six months and something we never got bored of and adding salt to the already humiliated Gods insults is maybe the fact that you get to kill one of them and then use his head as a torch light! Once you have his head and solve a small puzzle, you jump into a vent, dodging falling debris and obstacles and end the demo by attacking another Titan.
The Graphics are top notch, though the game does suffer the occasional frame drops but then this is initial build and I am sure developers will work on it to iron out any glitches before the final release. The lightning effect is absolutely mind blowing and the Blade of Chaos have never looked so deadly before. The sound effects when you use the Cestus are absolutely brilliant and captures the essence of the weapon, the background music will remind you of previous God of War games.
There you have it 15-20 minutes of vintage God of war, you kill enemies, you solve puzzles, you do some platforming, showing how merciless you are all this time. This is what God of War is all about and this is what Santa Monica has done so well in the past few years. Kratos is as angry as he has ever been and is portrayed very well in the 20 minutes we get to play him.The game sure seems to be headed in the right direction, March can’t come soon enough, till then Zeus can relax, rest assured, the end is not so far away.
