Jobs resigns as Apple lead, Cook steps up to plate
Steve Jobs has resigned as lead head of Apple. In his stead, Chief Operating Tim Cook has stepped up to take his place.
This is heartbreaking news not just for Apple fans, but for the technological industry in general. In his time as frontrunner of the Apple brand, Jobs helped propel the name forward with innovations to technology that pushed the boundaries of function as well as appealing to aesthetic elegance. Under Jobs’ guidance, the company has since made tremendous social and financial strides, becoming a household product in every home.
This announcement, however, comes as little surprise.
Jobs has been enduring a great deal of health-related problems. Jobs has been on medical leave since January 2011. Before that, in 2004, Jobs successfully underwent surgery to remove a pancreatic tumor. Five years later, Jobs took a six-month medical leave in which he underwent a liver transplant.
Though he has resigned as Apple executive, Jobs will not be leaving the company. He intents to remain an active employee of Apple as chairman on the board of directors.
