Modern Warfare 3 To Be Announced This Week

We have solid evidence that the sales juggernaut Modern Warfare 2 might be getting a sequel this year. Treyarch did its job admirably last year with Black Ops smashing all box office records for games. Infinity Ward as you may know, had a tough time of late with its top officials, Jason West and Vince Zampella heading to EA. But don’t think that the studio is down and out, since those positions will be filled with more qualified people by now.

The hint was dropped none other than the guy who voiced MW2′s Ghost, Craig Fairbrass. Yes, he gives an hint that Ghost might be back in MW3.

He said he’s “just been out in LA doing something that’s going to be announced in May.”

“I did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as Gaz and then I did Ghost in Modern Warfare 2, which has become one of the most iconic figures in the history of computer games, which is great.

“And I’ve just been out in LA doing something that’s going to be announced in May… I’ve just been out there doing some bits and pieces and one of it’s to do with… I can’t say too much.”

It just so happens that Activision’s imminent Q1 2011 financial results is due to be released by this week. Our guess is that the MW3 reveal will be accompanying the announcement.

If Activision’s track record is anything to go by, expect Modern Warfare 3 to release this November, where it will go head to head with EA’s behemoth, Battefield 3.

More updates as they arrive.
