New Final Fantasy game might be developed out of Japan?

Square Enix’s President, Mr.Yoichi Wada hinted at the possibilities of a Final Fantasy game developed in Western Shores in the near Future. He spoke regarding this in a recently concluded interview he gave for EGDE.

This means that a new FF game might be developed in western studios under the supervision of the series’ Japanese developing team. It would be interesting to see this happen, as it would give the series a whole new twist and western development will mean the game will be made keeping both the Western and Asian gamer’s need in mind

Here’s what he said -

“Initially, when quizzed about other Japanese publishers farming out some of their big franchises like Silent Hill and Dead Rising, Wada was quite coy.

He said: “That is one of the possible paths, but it’s not something that we would shift completely over to.”

When pushed a bit harder he did concede that the seminal JRPG series might make it into Western hands. He continued: “There is always a possibility that Final Fantasy could be produced with the input of our Western developers, overseen by our Japanese developers.”

He was also very optimistic about how their new Western acquisitions would fare in the tough Japanese market. He enthused: “Something like Batman: Arkham Asylum, for example, is something that is very like the Japanese taste in games, in fact it caters very much to the Japanese taste. Arkham Asylum is like the best aspects of Metal Gear solid, but evolved.”

Thanks Edge.
