Ninja Gaiden 3 to feature multiplayer

Teaser grab

New info on Ninja Gaiden 3 has started to trickle in. Team Ninja has answered to all our prayers and is finally going to include a multiplayer mode, a first for the series and the genre.

As you already know by now, Ninja Gaiden 3 will delve deep into Ryu’s life and the events that shaped him in to the troubled ninja we all know and love.  In an interview with PlayStation: The Official Magazine, Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi had this to say:

“We are focusing Ryu as a dark Japanese hero,” he explained. “There won’t be new playable characters, but we’ll focus more deeply on Ryu Hyabusa’s life and lifestyle and feelings and thoughts.”

“We are trying to take the violent concepts even deeper and make people realise how it feels to actually kill someone and what it is to actually gut someone.

“It’s very important to us that people realise that violence is not only about blood and gore.”

We got to ask, how much gorier could it possibly get? Ninja Gaiden 2 is already one of the bloodiest games on shelves today, and by the looks of the teaser trailer for 3, Team Ninja aint done just yet.

Hayashi also mentioned a “complex multiplayer mode”, and apparently, the series’ notorious learning curve will be going through some changes.

“We know that many fans feel good about the difficulty level, but we are taking a slightly different approach,”

“It’s not that the game’s going to be easier – nothing like that. It’s just that we are trying to make a whole game, a more exciting game that can be enjoyed by anyone.”

It will be interesting to see how the multiplayer mode fares up against the single player, considering that it has never been done before in the genre. Ninja Gaiden 3 will receive its coming out party at E3 this year.
