Nintendo Officially Confirms New Console

Nintendo just confirmed the existence of a new console and they say it will be launching next year. We’ve heard plenty of rumors this past week, and it’s a bit refreshing to see next gen approaching. For Nintendo it’s very important, since the Wii is waning and they need a successor to maintain the momentum.

In a brief statement, the publisher said that it’ll be revealed at E3 this year and will be playable at the event:

“We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles,”
