PSVita Tech Demo Showcases Facial Recognition

Anything Kinect/Wii U/anything can do, Sony’s PSVita appears to be trying to do it better. A video has appeared on youtube showing off the handheld consoles’ facial recognition technology.

The tech looks impressive, with head movements being accurately tracked as well as facial expressions. The video seems to be suggesting that you will be able to use the technology for video chatting, and an avatar will represent you during the call. I can’t see much application for it within a serious game, and so voice-chat and muck-abouts may be all this is good for.
