Report – Project Cafe tech specs leaked

More rumors concerning Nintendo’s Wii successor, referred as Project Cafe, have just hit the net. This time, giving us some insight on the pricing and what’s underneath the hood.
Anonymous sources have revealed to IGN that the console will be powered by a refined version of AMD’s R700 GPU architecture (Ati’s 4000 series), which outperforms the PlayStation 3′s GPU, the NVIDIA 7800 GTX . The CPU is apparently custom built by IBM and will house three cores, similar to that of the 360, but clocked at much higher speeds. The system will support a 1080p output and should be capable of Stereoscopic 3D.
When it comes to design, the console will be no bigger than the original Xbox 360 model and resembles a modernized take on the SNES. The sources also agree with the rumors reported earlier, about a touch screen controller with the capability of displaying streamed content, including games, from the console.
The console could carry a price tag ranging between $350 to $400 and will be manufacture by the Taiwanese Foxconn plan and be ready to ship this October. But Nintendo could possibly delay the release all the way to early 2012, to build up stocks and ensure a better launch lineup.
However, these are still classified as rumors and nothing can be assumed to be final until Nintendo spills the beans themselves. But the wait won’t be too long as E3 is just around the corner. Meanwhile, a new image which is supposedly of Project Cafe has just surfaced on the net. Check it out for yourselves.
