Report: Sony considering offering rewards for giving information on PSN hackers

According to a CNET report, Sony is considering offering rewards to people in the hope of getting leads about the PSN hackers, for their arrest and prosecution.

In a attack, which has crippled the PSN with downtimes moving into the third week, and nearly 72 million account details being compromised, including personal user details as well as possible credit card information, Sony isn’t leaving any stone unturned to bring the guilty under arrest.

Apparently, the company has been discussing the concept for a while, but hasn’t decided on it yet. They’re weighing in all pros and cons before a final decision is taken by senior Sony executives in Tokyo.

According to the report, the reward offered by Sony would be “in cooperation” with the appropriate world-wide law enforcement agencies, including the FBI. They’re also discussing the matter with the top agencies to try and “jar loose” any information or leads on the identity of the cyber criminals.
