Rivals’ interaction not aggressive in SSX

EA Canada has confirmed that Rivals are indeed back in SSX, but the aggression it features in past installments of the franchise has been toned down.
The game’s creative director, Todd Batty, told XG247 when asked if Rivals were back in the reboot:
Not in the way that Tricky had them. The mountains are much bigger so you don’t get as much of that intimate so we didn’t invest heavily into the “combat” as the mountains are so huge.
Batty also commented on the shove feature’s exclusion:
Shoves are gone. You can still obviously crash into people to knock them over, but you can’t punch them in the face.
The creative director ultimately stated that the game is less aggressive than previous iterations in the snowboarding franchise.
SSX is currently scheduled for a release on February 17th in Europe and 14th in the United States.
