Rumor: Sony to release PS3 3.61 firmware update when PSN is live again

It’s likely that Sony will be releasing a new firmware update for the PS3 before PSN is up and running again. According to the Official Japanese PlayStation Blog via Google Translate, Sony will release the update prior to the reactivation of the network.
The update will require users to change their existing firmware. The announcement hasn’t been made on the American and European blogs, but it’s inevitable. Though the post doesn’t reveal anything much, you can expect the update to be accompanied by several new features. Fingers crossed for cross game chat.
PSN should be back up again by teh end of this week, so if the update is in fact real., xpect an official word from Sony soon.
