Rumor: The Old Republic releasing this September

According to a report by MCV, Star Wars: The Old Republic is currently slated for a September release.

EA CEO John Riccitiello had earlier suggested a Spring 2011 release. With no new WoW expansion in sight, a September release is highly plausible and would be the perfect time for the game to take off.

Bioware’s take on the MMO is the company’s most ambitious project yet, with “more content than Mass Effect one and two, Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic and Baldur’s Gate put together”.Apparently, $300 million had gone into the game’s development and as promising as the game is, the developers themselves claim that it “will be one of the greatest failures in the history of MMOs” and that there is no hope of them ever making a profit out of it.

The Old Republic is every Star Wars Fan’s wet dream and if there was ever a game that could compete with the behemoth that is WoW, then this would be it. We will update you as soon as we hear an official release date.
