Shah Rukh Khan launches R.A One for PS3, and PS2 in India

Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan becomes the vocal point of PlayStation exclusive, RA.One – developed by Trine Studios in collaboration with Red Chilies Entertainment – which is now available on the PlayStation 3 and PS2.

The game was recently showed off to the press during a launch event, where the protagonist was present. Following the game’s launch, it has become a benchmark for publisher Sony who released the following records achieved by RA.One:

  • First full cycle BluRay PS3 game developed with an Indian developer & published by SCEE
  • First ever console game to be dubbed by a leading  Bollywood actor
  • First Bollywood title to appear as a full cycle PlayStation game (on any of the PlayStation formats)
  • First ever SCEE published PlayStation game in India to have international sneak previews

Atindriya Bose, PlayStation’s Country Manager said on the launch of RA.One:

We have always believed in using localized content and Indian developers to expand and capitalize on the nascent Indian gaming industry. The partnership with Red Chillies for ‘RA.One – The Game’ has been extremely rewarding with a true matching of a pioneering vision. A strong personality, like Shah Rukh Khan allocating so much of time and effort behind this venture – we are very confident of the overwhelming success of this game. We believe that combination of the movie RA.One and ‘RA.One – The Game’ will help enhance the appeal of PlayStation amongst a wider audience.

Shah Rukh Khan said:

Like true experts, they adapted the story and came back with strong gaming ideas around it. In addition to RA.One being available on the PlayStation Network, the title is available at retail for Rs. 499 on the PlayStation 2, while the PlayStation 3 version is available for Rs. 999.
