This year’s E3 is going to be the biggest in recent memory, with Nintendo poised to announce their next console, but that’s only a part of it. With such a situation posed for its competitors, both Sony and Microsoft would leave no stone unturned to ensure that they get their fair share of media attention and what better way to manage that than announcing exclusives.
Yeah, games which will be exclusive to the console, games which promises the world to fans, games which will please the console’s loyal fanbase.
This feature takes a look at probable PS3 exclusive announcements which Sony might make during their Press Conference and we explore past evidence for coming to the conclusion that these will grace the event and increase its glamour.

Sly 4′s a game which has been teased for years, with the first hint being dropped by Sucker Punch in their game inFamous, however hopes and expectations reached an all time high, when a teaser trailer was found by people who platinumed the Sly Collection. You can watch it above. And to stir things up further, Sucker Punch’s dropped another big clue in the form of the mention of its name in their latest title: inFamous 2. You can the tease present in inFamous 2 below.
Announcement Meter: 80% – With the game being teased for so long and even getting a teaser trailer to boot, it looks like the time has finally arrived for Sony to announce the game. Gamersmint will have all eyes glued on Sony’s presser to report it first for our dear readers as and if it happens.
God of War IV
God of War III on the PS3 can be termed as a poster boy for the console, with the level of detail, massive scale, amazing QTEs and the quality of gameplay on offer, fans were wooed to no end by Santa Monica’s stellar effort, which paid off with the game selling millions. Although, there’s little to no scope for Kratos’s story to continue but the cliffhanger ending of the game has ensured that there’s space for another title set in the GoW universe.
The recent months have ensured that the probability of a sequel to GoW III being in development reach an all-time high. First off, a CV had appeared online which referred to a “God of War 4 cinematic test” and more recently PSM3 had carried a scoop claiming that the title was infact, well into development. The mag went as far as stating that it was heading for a September 2012 release. The game’s also rumoured to be featuring online co-op gameplay.
Well, we wouldn’t be complaining if PSM3 proves out to be right, I mean who would? With such an awesome game in the form of God of War 3, it would be interesting to see how a new title would fare against the high standards set by its predecessor.
Announcement Meter: 70% – Although, all evidence suggests that Sony will be announcing a sequel to God of War 3 at E3 this year, but considering the last title released barely an year and a half ago, it might not happen, even if the game’s indeed in development. However, considering it’s such a treasured PS3 exclusive, Sony might end up announcing it, albiet with only a teaser trailer. Don’t expect to be shown much even if it’s announced.
Syphon Filter 4
This came out of nowhere, we didn’t think it was on the cards, but a recent rumour which we covered aswell, claiming that Sony has mistakenly revealed the game on their official website, before quickly taking it down leads us to believe that it might happen. It’s not that hard to digest, since Syphon Filter was a popular PS2 franchise and it would definitely please brand loyalist to see an HD iteration of the title. We would be interested in seeing which direction the developers plan to take the series now, considering how times have changed dramatically since the last title had released.
When Gamersmint approached Sony for a comment, they hit back with the usual “We don’t comment on rumour and Speculation.”
Announcement Meter: 90% - A leak on the Sony’s official website leads us to believe that this is as good as confirmed, unless someone was playing a terrible joke. Expect an announcement and expect to see a lot regarding the game during their presser. As usual, we’ll have you covered.
