Sony at E3 2010: Aces High?
It’s that time of the year again. Time stops for gamers worldwide as the biggest companies of the gaming industry take center stage at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This, people, is the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2010. Jaw-dropping announcements, Shocking reveals and tonnes and tonnes of info regarding the upcoming barrage of games – it’s all here.
As a precursor to our up-to-date coverage of E3 2010, we sit down with three of our expert authors (or so, they would like to think) to lay bare all that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have to offer at this year’s E3. Today, Debabrata Nath, Aiman Anwar and Kartik Mudgal wade through the dense waters of Sony’s immense ocean of games that have already been announced, well ahead of E3 2010. Do Sony have what it takes to ‘win’ this E3? Have Sony shown way too much that they should have? We find out in today’s discussion.
Debabrata: E3 is just round the corner and I’ve heard Sony’s got a lot of interesting stuff under the hood. Why don’t we delve deeper into what Sony is bringing to the table at gaming’s biggest event?
Aiman: To start off…I’d just like to point out that Sony have somehow miraculously proved the point that they made at last E3. Since the launch of the PS3, this last year has quite possibly been the best yet for the PS3. Uncharted 2, Infamous, God of War 3 and the creme de la creme Demon’s Souls are proof of this. So before we begin…kudos to Sony. You came through for us finally.
Kartik: Yeah, I agree they have improved a lot with their first party offerings but still have a long way to go; they need to maintain the momentum. We have a lot of confirmed games from Sony before E3 and some rumors floating around which I’m pretty sure are true. Seems like this will be a great E3 once again for Sony.
Aiman: This past year, Sony has just made Microsoft look bad. Apart from Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction and Alan Wake, Microsoft has not exactly set the proverbial ball rolling. The interesting part now, is that Sony has played its hand. They basically released the floodgates with outstanding games and now are threatened by what Microsoft has up its sleeve. We will get to Microsoft sometime later, but I’m afraid…Have Sony emptied their ammo clip early or do they still have some firepower saved up for E3?
Debabrata: Sony’s got a loads of games coming, that’s for sure. There’s a lot of confirmed stuff; some willing and some not so willingly. Let’s take a look at each one of them.
Kartik: We already know about GT5. The game has been in development for ages now – 5 years approximately.
Debabrata : Ah, the perfectionist’s ultimate project. If only I had a penny for every time they showed GT 5 at an E3…
Kartik: I really think the 3D implementation is going to ruin the game. I don’t like Sony delaying their titles just to make it compatible with the latest tech out there. That’s just ridiculous. GT fans have been waiting a long time for it
Aiman: Polyphony is so big, I’m not sure they even care for what Sony wants. They will take their own sweet time. They have made us wait so long; I’m starting to lose it. GT5 better have the Jesus mobile if it wants to impress me.
Kartik: They made GT PSP which would have held up GT5’s progress.
Aiman: GT PSP. Wow. It’s amazing how that rhymed with garbage…GT PSP…Garbage. See?
Debabrata: We can only hope and pray that these delays don’t tarnish the quality of the final product. I heard it’s going to get Move support as well?
Kartik: Yes. Move support and 3D are affirmative. September 2010 is the leaked date from Argos but let’s wait for the official one at E3…hopefully
Aiman: Well, it doesn’t matter how it turns out; GT 5 is destined to sell millions.
Debabrata: Oh, I am sure of that okay and before we move on, do you think GT 5 will live up to expectations? After all these goddamn delays and excuses, will it deliver? What do you guys think?
Kartik: Yeah of course it will. It is loaded with tons of content and it will do well; that’s my guess.
Aiman: People who are waiting for the game…ABSOLUTELY. It’s not a game that will win new followers though. At least that’s what I think. That sector is picked up by NFS, Burnout etc…If you know what I mean. While GT was sleeping there have been some amazing racing games out there that have upped the ante. Dirt and Grid say hello…they have revolutionized the racing game market.
Debabrata: Personally, I think GT 5 will make a name for itself among the younger crowd who have never played a Gran Turismo before. It will be huge. Surely, Japan will be playing it- the whole of it. And a good meaty chunk of Europe. In America, however, I think sales will not set the charts on fire.
Kartik: Majority of people haven’t played GT3 or GT4 on the PS2 but they are just as excited for it because it’s an exclusive and looks phenomenal. Polyphony Digital have a lot to prove with GT5, considering its their first game this generation, not counting the ‘demos,’ but with the amount of funding close to 80 million, it should turn out to be a well polished game.

The 3 experts on this site were supposed to discuss whether or not Sony had any aces left up their sleeves, yet instead wasted 5 pages to lambaste the announcements they already made. If this article was supposed to give a biased article lacking any actual insight to what Sony has to offer, you’ve succeeded in full spades. Well done guys, *BRAVO* for wasting the time of every gamer, while contributing the most useless pre-E3 article to date.
That’s what i would say if i were an xbot. But as a gamer, i must say, you guys better stop here and leave gaming discussion for other people…people who aren’t attached to one console. Seriously, is like you wrote this article for the amusement of sony haters…and than you wonder where do the flamewars come from?
@The morons who wrote this article: Loving the damage control guys, keep it up
Wow.. Just wow. Closet fanboys much? Waaaaah Killzone sucks, Waaaaaah Eyepet sucks, Waaaaah socom sucks, waaaaaaaaah GT5 is gonna fail, waaaaaaaah Resistance sucks, waaaaaah heavy rain didnt sell (What the fucking hell are you guys on? Didnt it top the f’ing charts in most countries?)
Do us all a favour and “drown” yourselves.
aces high? you sure your not high? you dont even talk about the games you just say yup like that nope dont like that. dumb article.
is that all you guys do? complain about games. why don’t you guys make your own game and see how much praise it makes. article sucked. some information is wrong on your part. socom 4 doesn’t make you use the move controllers, its an “option”. expert.. yeah right.
I’d also like to make a quick comment about your Socom 4 discussion (trying my best not to bring up the other points you made that were less than factual). Socom 4 is PLAYABLE with the Move. It’s not mandatory and can still be played with a controller. Really now, do some research.
You guys don’t like games.
Holy…I thought each point would have gotten better and better over the pages, but they just didn’t. This was…crap amongst crap. You guys are talented at spewing bullshit for real.
“we sit down with three of our expert authors (or so, they would like to think)”
Yea..you guys need to keep thinking that, because experts you aren’t.
So you retarded D-Bag Xbots spent 5 pages complaining about Ps3 exclusives why? So pitiful. Just a garbage article.
is there any way you can give me back the time i spent reading this bullshit???
