Sony at E3 2010: Aces High?
Kartik: Lol. Anyways let’s move on to Final Fantasy Versus 13 now. Do you guys think it will go multiplatform?
Aiman: Square said they are considering it, didn’t they?
Debabrata: I’ve heard rumors, it won’t be showed this E3. But I won’t be amazed if it goes multi platform. FF 13 did pretty well on the Xbox 360. Square will sure as hell be tempted.
Kartik: Square, like everyone else, needs to make money and they can’t ignore the 41 million X360 install. So most likely, FF Versus 13 going multiplatform will be news to expect.
Debabrata: The Last Guardian is one interesting project that has so much mystery around it. Team ICO make great games, but never did that well commercially. Would this one be any different?
Aiman: Not much info on Last Guardian. I hope it’s there. Team ICO never disappoint with their games. So unless they have Animal on kid sex in there, I don’t see how they can mess it up. I’m getting that day one.
Kartik: Team ICO are one of the best developers from Sony Japan. They have made 2 very innovative games in the past – ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Expect emotional overlay and a good story which will tug at one’s heart.
Aiman: Umm, I’d like to argue on that. Those games do not have any story.  I mean think about it – horned kid saving princess in a gloomy castle…unknown warrior saving unknown girl by killing 16 bosses. Those games are more about minute to minute interactions and outwardly ambience; ethereal, if you may.
Debabrata: Agreed. Weird is the word I think and Last Guardian won’t be any different. The game’s going to be a huge turning point for the gaming industry if it tastes success…sales wise.
Kartik: I am worried about the sales after seeing how Heavy Rain and Alan Wake did.
It’s a bit risky to be making such a game. However, it’s great for the gaming industry that these games come out and give audiences a different experience.
Debabrata: About the release date, you think if it will make it this year?
Aiman: Oh no! Definitely not! 2011 at the very least. And I call a 90% on metacritic but lackluster sales.
Kartik: Same here, 2011 it shall be. I’ll get the game for sure, but I cannot vouch for everyone else to do so. There are plenty of ‘mainstream’ games vying for the consumers dollar. We can just urge people to buy quality stuff so that these developers can come out with more goodness, more often.
Debabrata: Moving ahead…this GDC Sony made a big deal about how Move will be a playable device with  SOCOM 4. Anyone interested?
Aiman: SOCOM 4? I’m not a SOCOM guy – I just dont see the fun in those games. I’m the worst guy possible you should be asking about SOCOM. And don’t get me wrong; I love tactical shooters. GRAW, Rainbow Six are some of my favorites…SOCOM, unfortunately just ain’t happening.
Kartik: Confrontation was appalling. The game didn’t work at all when it launched – tons of lag, crappy servers and frustrating matchmaking. That’s why I am not excited for SOCOM 4; but it’s made by Zipper Interactive, so we know it can live up to its potential. SOCOM 2 was absolutely brilliant. Also I don’t quite get why we have to use the Move with SOCOM. What is wrong with the controller that I currently have? To put it simply, I’m not going to plonk down cash for waving a stupid controller to shoot bullets for me. They will have to do something miraculous for me to even get interested. Why don’t we just move onto the next game on our list?
Debabrata: …which is Infamous 2 by Sucker Punch.
Kartik: YEAH! I loved the first game.
Aiman: Infamous 2 is what I’m looking forward to the most…by FAR.
Debabrata: What exactly is the cause for your excitement?
Aiman: Mainly because how much the first game surprised me. I think releasing next to Prototype hurt the first game. People like me started Infamous and without beating it, moved onto Prototype. I was hooked onto Prototype. The speed with which I could move around, I thought there was nothing in Infamous that could get me back to that game. But fortunately I did get back to Infamous, and realized my folly. It’s a brilliant game… and extremely well pulled off story.
Kartik: As we know, Sucker Punch is a really small studio. But they have some great pedigree behind them. I believe Infamous was a pretty fantastic game. Although it was unpolished and had a lot of glitches, it was kinda fun for me.
Aiman: I was sold on the story…that sealed it for me. Infamous was a better game than Prototype…period. (though the story in infamous starts heating up in the later stages of the game)
Kartik: Anyways one more game that may come out from Sucker Punch is Sly 4.  I am not sure many people know of this but it’s rumored to be in development as well.
Aiman: Hmm…Long time since I played a Sly game- great Ps2 games. A next gen Sly? Yes please.
Debabrata: Sony won’t take such risks yet. A Sly Cooper game won’t excite the current generation of kids. Heck -most of them won’t even know what it is. So I don’t see that happening.
