Sony confirms PSN is not live in Japan
Yesterday, a rather weird rumour started to take shape. Several gaming forums and news websites began reporting that people residing in Japan could access the Playstation network, and that the service has resumed in the nation.
Apparently, this was based on several tweets and messages which were “supposedly” from Japanese PSN users.
However, Gamersmint can now confirm that there is no truth to any of these stories and PSN neither has resumed service in Japan nor is it accessible by anyone in Japan.
We put forward the following question to Sony:
Since yesterday, the internet is abuzz with rumours that people in Japan are able to access PSN right now and the service has resumed in Japan.
Senior PR manager of Sony UK, Jonathan Fargher confirmed that there is no truth to these reports to Gamersmint:
That’s not true.
As mentioned in Sunday’s press conference, details of which can be found here
We will begin a phased roll out of the PSN (region by region) over the coming week.
There you go, don’t believe whatever you read in the news. If PSN is back up in any country, Sony is sure to make an official statement regarding the same on the PS Blog first. Also, as he stated, they will be beginning phased roll out of the PSN (region by region) over the coming week and none the services have been restored anywhere yet.
Gamersmint will keep you updated as we have more details.
