SSX to receive a demo

EA has confirmed that gamers will be graced with a demo for  the next entry in the legendary SSX franchise prior to it’s release. The news was disclosed by the game’s producer, Sean Smillie in an interview with TheGamingLiberty.

“Yeah, there are plans. But I haven’t been told when that’s going to happen,”

The game previously carried the title of SSX: Deadly Descents, but was later discarded. The tagline was dropped as it failed represent the three pilars on what the game was all about: “Race It, Trick It, Survive It”, says Smillie.

“It sort of has to do with the three pillars of gameplay I’ve always mentioned,” he commented.

“With Deadly Descents, we were trying to get across that we had something new and different to do in SSX. I think the messaging was misguided. With Deadly Descents it sort of focused on “Survive It”, but what it didn’t do was reassure people that yes, we are still doing race and trick too. The other parts of the game weren’t being represented properly, so we dropped Deadly Descents and just went with SSX.”

The series has been out of action for four years now, and has yet to make it’s appearance on this gen’s HD consoles. But finally EA decided to resurrect the franchise and we couldn’t be happier. SSX is slated for a Januray 2012 release for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
