Activision has revealed that the first wave of Modern Warfare 3 DLC which arrived on Xbox Live last month, will be available on PSN for Call of Duty Elite premium members on February 28th.

The content will be free of course, as the price is already included in the Elite premium subscription. The Piazza and Liberation maps will be available to all gamers sometime in March on the 360, and in April for the PS3 and PC. Activison has 20 DLC packs in the pipeline for the coming months, and you can expect the publisher to stay true to its tradition and release it first on Xbox Live with a PSN and PC release following a month later.

Activision had made it abundantly clear earlier that we will be seeing a plethora of content rolled out for Modern Warfare 3 in the months following its release. Today, the publisher has rolled out their DLC schedule for this year, and htey sure weren’t kidding.

The first pieces of DLC, the Liberation and Piazza map packs, are already available exclusively  to premium CoD Elite members from today onwards. Here’s the full lay-down on how you can expect the year to unfold:

• February: New map
• March: New map, two new Spec Ops missions
• April: Two new maps
• May: New map, new Spec Ops mission
• June: New map, new Spec Ops mission, new game mode
• July: Two new maps
• August: New map, new Spec Ops mission, new game mode
• September: New map, new Spec Ops mission

Details on pricing or when the map packs will be available for regular Elite members weren’t disclosed. Expect to hear more on the content packs as we approach their release.

Infinity Ward, the developers behind the Modern Warfare series is hiring for “next generation technologies“. The posting was for a Senior Animator and was spotted on the developer’s official site. This is what it had to say:

“Infinity Ward, developer of numerous award winning games, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, is seeking a Senior Animator, preferably with experience in game development and an interest in working with next-generation technologies.”

There’s no denying that we’ll see a new Call of Duty release every single year, but the listing does suggest that the next generation of consoles might very well be on the horizon, with development units already in the hands of some of the big names in the industry.

The next Call of Duty title is currently in the works by Sledgehammer with the company posting a job listing for the unannounced title.

Sledgehammer’s ‘Call of Duty development team’ is looking to be expanded for ‘an unannounced high-end console title’, according to the job listing.

Additionally, the listing states that an engineer is required in order to take Call of Duty’s ‘online experience to a new level’, as well as creating ‘Multiplayer game modes and online community features.’

Publisher Activision has already confirmed that a new Call of Duty will arrive in 2012.

Modern Warfare 3 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated shooters to be releasing this year, with Activision’s massive marketing budget, and the Call of Duty tag hanging heavily on its shoulders. Expected to break all previous sales records, the game’s got a lot to prove. Being the highest selling franchise on the PlayStation 3, the title’s no doubt being looked up to by fans worldwide.

We now have the installation size or rather the “lack” of it for the PS3 version of the game. That’s right, Modern Warfare 3 only requires you to have a meager 50 MB of hard drive space in order for it to run properly on your console. This suggests that you won’t be required to do an mandatory installation for the title on the PS3.

The installation size was revealed via a recent unboxing video for the PS3 version of the title, carried out by some one calling himself MrKQgaming.

Here is a screencap clearly showing that the game only requires 50 MB of HDD space on PS3.

On the other hand, the Xbox 360 version of the title has an option for a much bigger installation which requires a total of 7.4GB HDD space on the Xbox 360 (non-mandatory).

Activision’s released the full version of the live-action trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and it features a veteran CoD player along with a guy who’s just started playing the game. What ensues is madness. The game’s out on November 9, 2011 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.  Watch the trailer below.

This is one fan who either has pretty deep pockets or haven’t evolved as much as other humans have.

A guy has placed a bid of US $1,725 on Ebay for a copy of Modern Warfare 3 which some one has apparently acquired from some place and is ready to ship it whoever pays him the most. This guy seems to have taken this to extreme levels and has placed a bid of a whooping 1,725 dollars.

We wonder why he did it. Maybe he’s a huge fan of the franchise and wanted to be among the first people to have the copy? Perhaps he’s the crown prince of Nigeria and money means little to nothing to him? Whoever he is, and whatever his reasons may have been, we salute him, and hope he reads this and sends us some money as well for posting about it.

The Battlefield series has been a key contributor to the first-person shooter genre for many years now. Call of Duty, meanwhile, has become one of the best-selling franchises in history ever since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
