Sure to please fans, the next big installment in the much revered survival horror game will be produced by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the same mind who produced the now legendary Resident Evil 4.

Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield find themselves in a midst of a zombie outbreak, again! Set ten years after the initial outbreak at Racoon City, things looks more grim than ever with a global level infestation this time around which even the President of the United States couldn’t escape as you can see from the trailer. The game will feature both single player and co-operative modes.

“From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers,” said Hiroyuki Kobayashi

“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” added Capcom R&D boss Katsuhiko Ichii. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”

More details will be revealed over the coming months. In the meantime, take your first glimpse at the title which will hopefully revitalize the franchise with the lengthy debut trailer featured below. The brief bursts of gameplay reminds us more of Resident Evil 4 than it does of Resident Evil5, which is a great sign of what awaits us. Let us know your thoughts below.

Resident Evil 6 will arrive on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on 20th November, 2012, with a PC version planned for later.
<p

We didn’t expect death threats in comic book form or anti-DmC death metal songs!” It’s pretty hard for me to back the decisions we made without showing actual gameplay to the public. So until that time comes, and it will come soon, I just have to put up with the rage.

Though I must say, lots of people have come and said that they are now interested in DmC whereas they had previously lost interest in the series. We’ll see how this plays out. There is of course an expectation from the fans, which is something that has always been firmly in the minds of both ourselves and Capcom. The Devil May Cry franchise is well established and much loved, so we want to keep the essence of what makes the series unique. But DmC is a re-birth, so we’ve been able to explore Dante’s early years in the narrative, meaning that if you’re entirely new to the series you won’t start the game with a disadvantage or feeling that you need to catch up with the story of the previous games first. There is a lot of innovation in the game, but where we’re dealing with key areas of the Devil May Cry DNA, such as the combat, we’ve been particularly careful to ensure that innovative features sit hand in hand with the core elements that we’re looking to preserve.

DmC: Devil May Cry is currently scheduled for a release during 2012.

New Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City gameplay footage

News

Capcom

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
<guid

Mega Man is a key brand for Capcom and will remain so. I don’t have any products we’ve announced publicly that I can point to and say “see, I told you” but there are “top men” (“top men”? “Yes, top men”) within Capcom thinking about the future of the brand and where it’s going. We will have official announcements in due course.

Unfortunately there are times that we have to make decisions that don’t make sense to the community and the fallout, while understandable is regrettable. Our relationships with fans are extremely important and I know we’ve got some that are disenfranchised right now. Unfortunately, in this situation, there is no panacea. It’s going to take time to rebuild those bridges. Product cycles are long and it’ll be a little while until fans can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And the last thing I want to do is prematurely announce something in the name of sating the fans that gets cancelled or redirected later, thereby creating an even larger wound. I can only ask for people’s patience.

Mega Man Legends 3′s cancellation was confirmed back in May and series’ creator, Keiji Inafune, has already left Capcom.
