The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim ships 7 million, 3.5 million copies sold in 2 days

Bethesda Softworks has announced a commercially successful launch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The game shipped an accumulative of seven million units on launch day, November 11th. It sold, meanwhile, 3.5 million units during its first two days after its launch. With the sales figures, the game is expected to rack up $450 million in sales.

Additionally, a stunning figure of over 280,000 concurrent players were all actively playing the action role-playing game on Valve’s Steam during the game’s first day of release.

Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard commented on the news by stating:

Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever. After over three years of development, we’re finally excited to get it into everyone’s hands.

Robert Altman, the CEO of the developer and publisher’s parent, ZeniMax Media, also commented:

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim released worldwide on November 11th.
