The Real Cost of Sony’s PSN Outage [INFOGRAPHIC]

The Playstation Network outage story has been dragging on for over a month now, and I’m sure there are plenty of facts and figures that got forgotten along the way. For those who are somewhat forgetful, or who simply gave up caring about each new development, the above infographic wraps up the events since the initial hack and outlines what exactly it will mean to Sony from a financial perspective.

According to this infographic, the network breach will cost Sony a potential 24 billion dollars (according to data from the security firm Ponemon Institute), as well as a disappointed grandfather and child – my heart bleeds.  The data on the infographic seems to be painting a worse-case-scenario and these losses seem extreme, especially given that earlier today Sony issued a report stating that the network outage would cost them 105 million pounds (approx 170 million USD – a tad less than 24 billion).
