The Secret World gets beta date, put it in your diary

A fair bit of news came out of Gamescom today, but this is by far the piece that has me the most excited. Funcom’s upcoming MMO, The Secret World, has been given an official beta date and release window.

The beta is bloody close as well, and you will be able to sign-up for it from the 26th August (Less than 10days away!). I massively recommend that you try out this beta, as the game looks very intriguing and if the potential of the premise reaches fruition then it will be utterly fantastic.

You don’t know about the premise? Well shame on you, but luckily I am here to tell you now that I’m done with this horribly cheesy and rhetorical segue. The game is set in our modern, real life world, but as if certain pieces of our folklore, mythology and pop-culture were all true. I don’t know exactly what it will entail, but I’m sure your imaginations can run wild with the possibilities.

The full game is scheduled for an April 2012 release.
