Tomb Raider reboot gets official confirmation

Square Enix has finally announced that the much anticipated reboot of the Tomb Raider series titled well… Tomb Raider is currently in the works.  The title will be  developed by Crystal Dynamics, the same minds behind recent Tomb Raider releases such as Legends, Anniversary and The Guardian of Light. The game will get a full reveal in the next issue of  Game Informer

Square Enix promises the game will make us “forget everything” we know about Lara Croft, as we see her “young and inexperienced” in a “journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive.” And judging from the cover art, we are pretty sure they aren’t pulling our legs.

This is what Game Informer had to say:

“In our world-exclusive cover story, we uncover a brand-new Lara Croft. Rebooting the Tomb Raider franchise through an origin story wasn’t so much a choice as an act of necessity, according to Crystal Dynamics. Drastic measures were needed. To build an entirely fresh Lara – a culturally relevant hero worth of the attention that once came so effortlessly – they must break her first. In this new adventure – simply titled Tomb Raider – a younger and inexperienced Lara Croft must endure both physical and emotional trauma to survive.”

“This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.”

For starters, Lara’s new look is sure as hell intriguing and we might finally get a Lara which is actually plausible . The future of the franchise has never been so bright promising and we cant wait for the official unveiling. We will keep you updated as soon as we hear anything.
