Ubisoft go Green

Ubisoft have announced that they plan to ditch Game Manuals – a staple in video game packaging for many, many years, in an effort to be more eco-friendly. Paper manuals will now be replaced by in-game Digital manuals for games on the XBOX360 and PS3 systems, and the first title to feature this will be Shaun White Skateboarding, which is scheduled for an autumn release.

Along with paper usage elimination, Ubisoft have also partnered with Technimark, Inc. to create eco-friendly DVD cases for their PC releases. Splinter Cell: Conviction, which releases on the 30^th of April, will be the first to boast these cases.

Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America had this to say: “Eco-friendly initiatives are important to the global community and introducing in-game digital manuals on Xbox 360 and PS3 is just the latest example of Ubisoft’s ongoing commitment to being a more environmentally conscious company.”
