Ubisoft: New games may still ship with always-on DRM

A few days back, we reported that Ubisoft has patched out their always on DRM system for games like Assassin’s Creed II and Splinter Cell Conviction which required a constant internet connection at all times while playing the game.

Although we thought that was the end of it, we’re afraid that it’s not.

When quizzed if this system will be implemented for their upcoming titles aswell, a Ubisoft rep was quick to respond that this on only done on a case by case basis and that it was planned from the beginning and they had mentioned that it might patch out the DRM from their games at some point.

The worst news comes in the form that new games however, may still ship with the always-on DRM system, Ubisoft confirmed.

Well, we hope that people really appreciate these patches and it prompts Ubisoft to sack the always-on model altogether.
